How to use accounts with online registration
If you would like your customers to be able to create and use accounts when they register for your classes, you'll need to set the desired Registration Mode.
Go to Setup > Online Order Settings, shown here:
You will notice that there are three Registration Modes.
What are the Registration Modes?
Here are the three Registration Mode that you can pick from:
- Usernames and passwords are required - in this case users must either login or create an account if they wish to register for a class on your site. This mode had the advantage that you know all registrations will be associated with an account. The downside is that it is possible that not all of your customers will want to create their own accounts.
- Usernames and passwords are not supported - the registration page will not include any support for accounts.
- Usernames and passwords are optional - this is a mixed case that lets the user login, create a new account or just continue without using an account at all. This is the most flexible case for your customers.
Here is an example of a registration page using the "Accounts are optional" Registration Mode:
As you can see, with this mode your customers can login to your site, create an account, or register without using an account.
If a user does log in to your site, the fields on the registration form are filled in using the account information. It also means that the registration will be associated with the account for the purposes of tracking enrollments.
