How to add the Demo Scheduler to your site

The Main Street Sites Demo Scheduler is a powerful tool with many options associated with it. There are a several steps required to use this feature on your site.

Here are the steps you need to follow to begin using Demo Scheduler:

  1. Make sure Demo Scheduler is offered with your current Main Street Sites package.

Please contact us as support@mainstreetsites.com if you don't know for sure.

  2. Set Demo Scheduler settings at Setup > Settings > Demo Scheduler Settings.

Please see How to set demo scheduler options for details on how to do this.

  3. Enable Demo Scheduler for the current semester.

You can control how Demo Scheduler behaves by semester, including when demos can be scheduled for a given semester. You can find this setting by going to Setup > General > Semesters and editing your current semester. This is also discussed at the end of How to set demo scheduler options.

  4. Add Demo Scheduler to your website.

You can do this a variety of ways:
    • Add a link to the page "demos.aspx" to any page on your site. See Working with links for details.
    • Add a menu item to your menu using the Custom Menu editor. See How to customize your menu for details.
    • Enable the Customer Portal and include the Demo Scheduler as a button on the portal. See How to add items to the portal for details.
    • If you don't have a Main Street Sites website, you'll need to get the link to Demo Scheduler from Main Street Sites. Please contact us to get this link.

  5. Make sure you set email addresses for your teachers.

If you want your teachers to receive email notifications about demos, please go to Setup > General > Instructors and update each teacher with the appropriate email address.

  6. Enter some content for the Demo Scheduler landing page.

Go to Website > General > Built-in Pages, and select the "Demo Scheduler" page. Enter some information about your demo class policies. This information will show up on the first page that people see when they access your demo scheduler.

  7. Customize your Demo Scheduler emails.

Go to Communications > Settings > Notification Templates and customize the emails that people will receive when they schedule a demo. The template to update is called "Demo Scheduled (customer)."
Note: Once you have completed these steps, you will probably want to set make-up and demo slots for your class meetings. Please see How to view and modify demo slots or How to view and modify makeup slots for help with this.
