How to add the Make-Up Scheduler to your site
The Main Street Sites Make-Up Scheduler is a powerful tool with many options associated with it. There are several steps required to get this feature working on your site.
Here are the steps you need to follow to begin using Make-Up Scheduler:
- Make sure Make-Up Scheduler is offered with your current Main Street Sites package.
Please contact us as support@mainstreetsites.com if you don't know for sure.
- Set Make-Up Scheduler settings at Setup > Settings > Make-Up Settings.
Please see How to set makeup scheduler options for details on how to do this.
- Enable Make-Up Scheduler for the current semester.
You can control how Make-Up Scheduler behaves by semester, including when make-ups can be scheduled for a given semester. You can find this setting by going to Setup > General > Semesters and editing your current semester. This is also discussed at the end of How to set makeup scheduler options.
- Add Make-Up Scheduler to your website.
You can do this a variety of ways.
- Add a link to the page "makeups.aspx" to any page on your site. See Working with links for details.
- Add a menu item to your menu using the Custom Menu editor. See How to customize your menu for details.
- Enable the Customer Portal and include the Make-Up Scheduler as a button on the portal. See How to add items to the portal for details.
- If you don't have a Main Street Sites website, you'll need to get the link to Make-Up Scheduler from Main Street Sites. Please contact us if you don't have this link already.
- Make sure you set email addresses for your teachers.
If you want your teachers to receive email notifications about make-ups, please go to Setup > General > Instructors and update each teacher with the appropriate email address.
- Enter some content for the Make-Up Scheduler landing page.
Go to Website > General > Built-in Pages, and select the Make-Up Scheduler page. In the content editor, enter some information about your make-up policies. This information will show up on the first page that people see when they access your make-up scheduler.
- Customize your Make-Up Scheduler emails.
Go to Communications > Settings > Notification Templates and customize the emails that people will receive when they schedule a make-up. The template to update has the title of "Make-Up Scheduled (customer)."
Note: Once you have completed these steps, you will probably want to set make-up and demo slots for your class meetings. Please see
How to view and modify demo slots or
